In the Beginning
Cuthbert’s initially set up from their home bakehouse in 2006 based in Aigburth Liverpool, working around their demanding full time jobs in the food manufacturing industry, Cuthbert’s Liverpool cake shop business initially started supplying family and friends, expanding to local markets, shops and cafes with their bakery goods. As the cakes continued to bake and orders continued to rise their family home became a twenty four hour bakehouse and it was time to expand to their very own premises for cake makers Liverpool. This was inspired by the late Sheila Price (Cuthbert), who gave them the strength and belief in making their dream of owning a Liverpool cake shop come true.
Great taste, great cakes. The Lemon drizzle cake is melt in the mouth delicious. The cupcakes are probably the best I’ve ever tasted..
Matthew & Elaine Price founded & developed Cuthbert’s Bakehouse, building their ideas & dream from a scrapbook generated through the couple’s love of travel & great food interest’s. The scrapbook literally came to life from their hand picked ideas of people, products & environment, many of which were inspired through their visits & time spent in America, Amsterdam & Asia as well as closer to home Dafnas Cheesecake Factory in Liverpool.
Our lasting impression was that Cuthbert’s certainly puts the pleasant in Mount Pleasant and is one of the finest independent tea rooms Liverpool has to offer.
Our vision is to offer customers the chance to step into their cornucopia of creativity & enjoy great cake and food. Recently celebrating our second birthday in the Cuthbert’s Bakehouse shop we have constantly pushed the boundaries to inspire each other and create new ideas for our ever evolving cake menu and enable us to share our talk and taste of cake with Liverpool. We pride ourselves on being one of the best cake makers in Liverpool.
Everyone Loved our Wedding Cupcakes. They were Perfect! Thanks so much!
Our Homemade Appeal
Elaine is the creativity and ideas generator and Matthew’s baking skills brings the ideas and recipes to life complimenting each other to be a great recipe for success.
The Bakehouse journey has come with a lot of hard work & hours. It’s amazing to look back and see how the business has grown through hard work and determination. We are constantly developing & creating new recipes as every sweet treat sold in their shop is homemade in the Bakehouse bakery on a daily basis, making Cuthbert’s unique to other café’s and any other other Liverpool cake shop.
We specialise in providing a range of ‘homemade’cakes and sweet treats including individual portions, large cakes perfect for birthdays, cupcakes and tarts. Cuthbert’s were first Liverpool cake shop with Baby Cakes & first to cross the Atlantic with their Whoopie Pies.
The Bakehouse’s best bakes has to be the Red Velvet with it’s silky smooth frosting, triple layer chocolate fudge cake & all butter scones served with clotted cream & homemade jam.
The Bakehouse has it’s own identity with customers of all ages and backgrounds enjoying the shop – a testimony to just how far reaching our appeal is.
There’s a certain kind of cosiness & familiarity; a bit like ‘home away from home’, with a feeling of relaxation the moment you enter the shop, all this personality gives Cuthbert’s’ a real lived in and genuine personality. Some say Cuthbert’s is a ‘real vintage treasure’
